Skis

Let's face it - every major brand out there today makes a great race ski. The key is how that ski fits the user. OK - sure - each company's top end ski will be inherantly a weeee bit different from their competitor's ski.  But those differences are often miniscule and often differ only by what buzz word is used to refer to them.  IT'S ABOUT THE FIT.  The ski needs to give the skier what they want whether it be stability, float, speed, or control.  We work with you to determine what attributes your new ski needs in order to give you what you want.  Once we've made a choice we back it up.  If that ski doesn't deliver - bring it back.  We want fast AND happy skiers out there.  Let's find you a new ski.....

This is the real turning point for waxless skis. Especially for racing. A Teflon impregnated kick skin that can be replaced once worn out(after a few thousand K). The ski comes with two kick zones - great kick and ridiculously great kick. The kick zone is recessed into the base so glide is awesome. The skins are held in with four powerful magnets and each pair of Skintechs comes with a tool for changing out the kick zone. Make no mistake. This ski has been done right. It was first skied on in the early 2000's. But just now, after years of perfecting, is it good enough to reach the masses. SKIHUT HAS SKINTECH SKIS AVAILABLE FOR DEMO!!!

Atomic
Featherlite WC Classic
$299.00 SALE!
$549.95
$644.95 MSRP
Atomic has always been known to have extremely light weight race skis. What they have done for this season I have decided to call "Ridiculite". We'll see if Austria catches on. Atomic has replaced their usual wood sidewalls with densolite. Making this, quite possibly, the world's lightest Classic ski! Long, bell-shaped traditional camber makes the Featherlight an easy skiing, reliable kicking, and very forgiving ski. Atomic's new sizing sticker leaves no room for sizing errors. These skis are flexed at the factory far more precisely than they ever will be at any shop anywhere. Skihut stocks the "cold" ski.

Atomic
Featherlite World Cup Skate
$319.00 SALE!
$549.95
$644.95 MSRP
Atomic's Thin Red Line has done it again! The Featherlite Skate ski ups the anty for light weight speed. Not only did this ski bring the USA it's first Olympic medals in years, But one of those medals was GOLD! Bill DeMong showcased the Featherlite's speed and stability over the highly variable course in Vancouver.

Atomic
World Cup FL Hard Track
$415.00 SALE!
$554.95
$649.95 MSRP
The Atomic Evolution continues. The Hard Track has two distinct features that make it rock solid when the track is firm. Double base grooves offer improved tracking while simultaneously adding an extra edge for hold on icy tracks. The camber of the Hard Track pushes the contact zones (wheelbase) out towards the tip and tail which creates an innately stable ski. However, this ski does not have the leaf-spring type of camber found on some hard surface race skis. This ski can still be skied at an easy pace and is actually quite universal in it's performance.

Fischer
RCS Skating 10/11(plus/cold)
$250.00 SALE!
$439.95
$499.95 MSRP
Even with the advent of the new Carbonlite skis the venerable RCS remains a favorite both regionally as well as on the World Cup. RCS's legendary rock-solid stability masks it's deceptive speed.

Fischer
RSC Classic 10/11 (plus/cold/crown)
$250.00 SALE!

$499.95 MSRP
The good old RCS gets a graphics facelift across the board for 2010/2011. But remains the exact same ski structurally that it has been for years. Fischer's 812 camber gives these skis the perfect combination of kick and glide.

I'm sure a lot of you already have an opinion concerning Fischer's "812" camber. Opinion's run from love to hate. In my opinion - If this ski is fit correctly to the skier - they will love it! Unparalleled combination of grip and glide. Size it too soft and it will be catchy on descents. Size it too stiff and no kick. Yes - a tricky ski to fit. We are confident that we have figured out the perfect test results needed to properly fit this ski. I've sold alot of them and the users have been unanimously overjoyed with the ski's performance. We've also found that Fischer's recomendations for proper flex have been right on. But must be within 2 kg of perfection. The wax pocket on these skis tends to be short, ride high, and kick easy. The skier needs to be respectful of the shorter wax pocket. Many have tended to over wax (too far up the tip) this ski and returned claiming poor glide. We cleaned the base, re-glide waxed the tip, showed them what we did and sent them out. PRESTO! Perfect kick and glide. Skihut stocks "cold" base.

RCS Carbonlite Hole Skate Ski 10/11
$420.00 SALE!

OK. It may seem a bit silly to you. But think about it. This ski is 5 grams lighter at the tip. That translates into a lot of swing weight you don't have to deal with during the course of a race. Think about every time you go to bring your leg back under your body while skating. There is always a "pendulum motion". The ski tip and tail swing slightly with each stride. Your body has to fight that motion in order to keep going in a straight line. You are wasting energy. The less that ski swings - the less energy you use to correct it - the more likely you will be to take the sprint or launch a crushing attack. I've seen other companies - and other shops - taking cheap shots at the Hole Ski. Let 'em. Fact is: This ski is light, fast, and effective. Duluthian and Team Fischer/Craft athlete Adam Swank proved that at the California Gold rush. Winning the event in a blizzard that dumped 8" of new snow. On this ski. He was amazed at how easily it sliced through the fresh snow. And, wouldn't you know it, he won it in the sprint! The Hole Ski is currently available in Cold and Plus base. The full range of stiff and medium flexes are also available. AND - available with or without the NIS plate.

Salomon
Equipe 10 lab Skate
$349.00 SALE!
$499.95
$549.95 MSRP
No structural changes for the Lab 10 for 11/12. But Salomon has tightened up the flex parameters on these skis. After flexing several pairs I've noticed an improvement in the flex consistency of these skis. The flex characteristics are impressive. Soft Ground also in stock.

Salomon
Equipe 10 Lab Classic
$349.00 SALE!

This classic ski has really impressed our customers. With Salomon's "heel-toe" camber this ski rides high (so you glide fast - but your wax doesn't wear off) but kicks easy. The Lab 10 Classic has probably the most forgiving wax pocket of all high-end kick skis. Meaning it fits a relatively wide range of skier weights. A Nomex core for lightweight durability. Salomon's Zeolite base for easy wax absorbtion and innate glide speed. And a slight sidecut for enhanced downhill stability.

Salomon
Equipe 10 Lab Skate
$349.00 SALE!
$499.00
$550.00 MSRP
Totally redesigned in '09-'10. Full length carbon fiber plate lends a ton of stability without having to have a ridiculously high camber - that translates to easy glide at any speed. (A ski with a high camber is difficult to ski easy. It needs to "plane-out" to get fast. When the skier goes below a certain speed the ski will slow down noticeably.) Salomon also made the Lab 10 Skate a bit wider in the tip - again for stability. Yet this ski still glides like it did in 2009. And we all saw how that worked out at that year's Birki. No - this is not the same ski as the Atomic Red Cheetah!! They use the same core material (NOMEX). But beyond that the two skis are completely different other than the fact that they are both, indeed, really fast skis.
